Peut-on mettre le bonheur en pilule ?
HAPPY PILLS raconte comment nous utilisons les médicaments pour assouvir notre soif de bien-être, de performance ou de contrôle.
Des anxiolytiques aux antidouleurs, des contraceptifs aux stimulants, le film voyage à travers six personnages dans un monde où la chimie se vend comme l’ultime réponse à la quête universelle du bonheur.

La quête universelle du bonheur est un des invariants humains. L’industrie pharmaceutique développe des classes entières de médicaments (anxiolytiques, antidépresseurs, somnifères, opioïdes) qui promettent à leur consommateur, si ce n’est le bonheur, au moins une certaine paix. HAPPY PILLS explore la réponse industrielle à une quête existentielle et notre relation intime aux médicaments. En Suisse, en Israël, en France, au Pérou, au Niger ou aux États-Unis, le documentaire suit six personnages qui, chacun, ont besoin de la chimie pour mener ce qu’ils considèrent comme une vie meilleure. Au final, c’est notre société de consommation et l’eldorado d’une joie sur ordonnance que HAPPY PILLS questionne.
